How is the City of La Crosse and La Crosse County working toward solutions for unsheltered population concerns?
The City of La Crosse and La Crosse County have identified a need for a sustainable, data-driven and coordinated response to homelessness. At present, homelessness response is often fragmented and lacks clear goals. This plan will pool resources, learn from what has worked elsewhere, and have accountable leadership.
"The Homeless Outreach Team comprises 13 agencies that goes out twice a week to wherever people are experiencing unsheltered homelessness in the city of La Crosse. Our goal is to connect people to services, shelter, and housing whenever they are available. We also ensure people are on the newly-created Pathways to Housing List, which is helping us develop a comprehensive understanding of the needs of people who are experiencing homelessness in the city of La Crosse."
