No one was injured after a convicted felon shot at a police officer early this morning, February 22, 2022.
On, February 22, 2022 at approximately 1:30am officers were called to a theft complaint. While responding, the caller stated the suspect, Curtis W. Ross II 03/10/1988, was leaving the scene and they were following him. They continued to give updated locations to the Dispatcher of their location. Officers were able to observe Mr. Ross and attempted to initiate contact. Mr. Ross, turned towards the officer and fired one shot at the officer. The officer was not injured. With the assistance of the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department, UW-La Crosse Police and Wisconsin State Patrol a perimeter was established. Shortly after, a witness observed Mr. Ross hiding nearby, and called reporting this to Dispatch. Officers were able to take Mr. Ross into custody without further incident.
Mr. Ross is a convicted Felon, in possession of a firearm, who was currently out on bond for Felon in possession of a firearm. He also had four warrants for his arrest; 2 from La Crosse County, one from Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office and one from the United States Marshall Service which was for a Firearms violation-felon in possession.
