If you disagree with the determination of the City Assessor, the final municipal review of assessments is the Board of Review. The Board of Review is a quasi-judicial body comprised of five appointed City residents who hear the cases and make final determinations on value.

Municipal Boards of Review must meet:

  • annually
  • anytime during the 45-day period beginning on the 4th Monday in April

2026 is not a revaluation year - it will be an interim review.  Property owners can expect to receive assessment notices in April 2026.

OPEN BOOK.  Open Book will be held April 29 through May 6, 2026 between the hours 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00am to 12:00pm Friday.  If you wish to discuss your assessment, contact the Assessor's office by calling 608-789-7525 or emailing assessor@cityoflacrosse.org; you do not need to wait for open book.

BOARD OF REVIEW - first meeting.  The initial two-hour meeting of the Board of Review is scheduled for May 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.  in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 400 La Crosse Street, La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The initial Board of Review meeting is the first meeting of the year where business is addressed and must be in session at least two hours. After this first meeting, the Board may then adjourn at its own discretion from time to time, until its business is completed. Anyone appearing before the Board of Review must file a Notice of Intent and/or Objection Form for real property no less than 48 hours before the first meeting of the Board of Review.  The 48-hour deadline is May 12, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
